a slice of brooklyn

This weekend was a weekend of a lot of firsts: for the first time in my life I had "dim sum brunch" in chinatown (basically a lot of hot chinese appetizers for breakfast) - apparently one thing "real" new yorkers do every couple of week, but nothing for me (i can't stand shrimp and crab in the mornings...). Stuffed with shrimp, crab, fish and fried rice Brandon and I walked across the Brooklyn bridge (another first) and spent the day in Brooklyn (never been there before either). And it was great: The view from the Brooklyn bridge to either Manhattan and Brooklyn are fantastic, and the bridge itself is a masterpiece (@Norbsi: Yes, I thought about you when I crossed the bridge). Brooklyn is a really charming neighbourhood with a lot of brownstown houses, little streets and a fantastic promenade at the Hudson River, from which you have a stunnig view of the Manhattan skyline. Last but not least we went to THE most famous pizza restaurant in Brooklyn, if not of whole New York: Grimaldi's is a tiny pizzeria near the waterfront with charming red-white table cloths and Italian classics played on the radio. The 30 minute wait to get a table was absolutely worth it: This thin-crust cole oven pizza is the best I ever had!
